GLEX 2017 held in Beijing

On June 6th 2017, the Global Space Exploration Conference (GLEX 2017) held in Beijing, the themes of this conference are “sharing" and "cooperation".

Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a letter of congratulations to the Global Space Exploration Conference. Vice President of China Li Yuanchao attended the opening ceremony to deliver his speech, and also announce the congratulation letter which was written by President Xi.

In his letter, Xi noted that since the ancient times humanity has filled curious and their hope to the outterspace, every Chinese generation is always inheriting those tales and dreams of aerospace. Hailing the achievements made in space exploration in the 20th century, science and technology of aerospace had a great influence on the development of society and life well-being. Xi said progress in space science and technology will benefit people around the world in the future.

President Xi stressed that China has attached great importance to space exploration as well as innovation in space science and technology, China is willing to enhance cooperation with the international community in peaceful space exploration and development. And hope these achievements to create a better future for mankind. He also expressed that the ongoing conference will promote space science development and international exchanges and cooperation.

Li Yuanchao expressed his welcome to experts and scholars in the international space field who attended this conference. And he wished this conference would acquire a great success. 

Li Yuanchao pointed out in his speech that space exploration is the career of braves. Spirit of exploration is the most worthy thing to carrying forward in aspect of developing space. Every step into the universe has been condensed the creative wisdom of scientists and astronauts in generations. Only by constantly innovating, human being can lead their footsteps into a more profound space. Industry of aerospace carries the hope of the future of mankind; we should set the welfare of human being as the foundation of space development, so that using and developing resource of space peacefully, in order enable these achievements of space exploration could benefit all people around world. Chinese government has always supported international cooperation in the field of space, and we are willing to work with other countries to build a peaceful space, a co-operational space, and an orderly space, together realizing the aerospace dream of mankind.

Li Yuanchao and Tang Dengjie (Administrator of China National Space Administration) collaborated with Jean-Yves Le Gall (Co chair of GLEX 2017, president of CNES) and Johann-Dietrich Woerner(administratorof European Space Agency) jointly launched Chinese ancient astronomical instrument-elaborate equatorial armillary sphere model, as the 2017 global space exploration Conference Official opening.



On behalf of the International Astronautical Federation, Mr. Le Gall expressed his sincere welcome to the participants and expressed his appreciation to the local organizing committee of china. Mr. Le Gall expressed that the mission of the International Astronautical Federation is to link global space personnel and related organizations to share their experiences in space exploration and cooperation. Mr. Le Gallpraised China demonstrated its leadership in 2017 global exploration conference; he said he would also cooperate with China to jointly promote global cooperation in space exploration aspect. “At present, we are a global community with common mission objectives. So it is important that we should send a signal of reinforce cooperation in aerospace to the younger generation.” At last, Mr. Le Gall wish the conference achieves great results.

The attendees present at the opening ceremony include Vice president of the International Astronautical Federation Feichtinger Welch, The first crew member of the lunar landing- American former astronaut Buzz Aldrin, and also each administrator and relevant Institutional officials of National Space Administration in Italy, Germany, Canada, the United States, Japan, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Kenya and European Space Agency.

The attendees present at the opening ceremony also contain Shang Yong who occupies as vice president of China Association for science and technology,  Wu Yanhua who is vice administrator of the China National Space Administration, Tian Yulong who is secretary-gerenal of China National Space Administration, Xiangli bin who is served as Vice president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Yang Liwei who is in collar of deputy director of the China Manned Space Engineering Office.

Before the conference, the organizers have gathered lots concerns of aerospace by teen-agers. Chinese astronaut Wang Yaping attends the opening ceremony, and she talks with 4 teen-agers during interaction on this Conference.

The 47th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) In 1996, the 64th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in 2013, and the 2010 World moon Congress (GLUC 2010) were all held in Beijing and achieved great success. With the development of Chinese aerospace industry, China has become a dazzling star in the field of deep space exploration. The global space exploration conference 2017 is defined as the competition thematic meetings which are held by International Astronautical Federation, IAF would hold GLEX2017 in Beijing sufficiently manifest their affirmation and trusting on Chinese aerospace.

The conference is conducted by China Association for Science and Technology and China National Space Administration, and is sponsored by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, China Aerospace Science & Industry Corporation and China Space Foundation. The conference will hold from 5th to 9th in june; it consists of 4 plenary sessions, 9 keynote reports, 10 global network forums, and 25 group discussions. Topics of the conference are covering lunar exploration, the exploration of Mars, the asteroid exploration and so on 13 technical fields.
